[China Building Materials Network] Current status of thermoplastic pipes on the market
1. The current status of thermoplastic pipes on the market
Thermoplastic pipes on the market are generally divided into two categories, one is a single-material plastic pipe, and the other is a metal and plastic composite pipe.
1.1 Single material plastic pipe
1.1.1 Polyvinyl chloride pipe (PVC)
Unplasticized unplasticized polyvinyl chloride pipe (UPVC) is mainly used in water supply and drainage pipes, which is usually used in cold water pipes. In addition, chlorinated polyethylene pipe (CPVC) is a plastic pipe with good heat resistance obtained by processing vinyl chloride resin. It has good heat resistance, aging resistance, and chemical corrosion resistance. It is especially suitable for conveying heat. Water, sewage, waste liquid and other media.
UPVC pipes can usually be bonded with adhesives, or flexible connection with rubber rings. This kind of pipe is the first plastic pipe to be promoted and used in China and the most used at present. .
The pipe is available within Φ16-710mm.
1.1.2 Polyethylene pipe (PE)
PE pipes are distinguished by density. There are low density polyethylene pipes (LDPE), medium density polyethylene pipes (MPVC), and high density polyethylene pipes (HDPE).
LDPE pipe has good flexibility, elongation, impact resistance, chemical resistance and high frequency insulation. It is mainly used for farmland irrigation and drainage. HDPE pipe has high strength and rigidity. MDPE pipe also has good flexibility and creep resistance. The latter two pipes, especially HDPE pipes, are widely used in urban gas and water supply pipelines.
In the national standard of PE pipe products for water supply, the pipes are divided into three grades: PE63, PE80, and PE100. They can maintain the minimum strength of 6.3MPa, 8.0MPa, and 10.0MPa after 50 years at 20°C. The maximum allowable design stress is 5MPa, 6.3MPa, and 8MPa respectively. At present, the specifications of domestic products are between Φ16-160mm, and the maximum can reach Φ400mm.
1.1.3 Cross-linked polyethylene pipe (PEX)
Cross-linked polyethylene is a chemical or physical method to modify the linear molecular structure of ordinary polyethylene into a three-dimensional cross-linked network structure, which has excellent temperature adaptability (-70-110°C) and pressure resistance (burst pressure 6MPa ), stability and durability (service life of more than 50 years), and has the advantages of non-toxic, no bacteria breeding. However, the cross-linked polyethylene pipe contains water for a long time and has a slight peculiar smell. Cross-linked polyethylene pipes are mainly used for indoor hot water pipes and ground radiant heating pipes. The supply specifications of domestic PEX pipes are between Φ10-32mm, and a small amount can reach Φ63mm. The connecting pipe fittings generally use clamped copper joints or snap ring copper joints, but also ABS pipe fittings, POM pipe fittings, and ultra-high molecular polyethylene pipe fittings.
1.1.4 Modified polypropylene pipe
Polypropylene pipe (PP) is non-toxic and inexpensive, but has poor impact strength. It is not ideal as a water supply pipe. Polypropylene is modified by copolymerization to improve the impact strength of the pipe. There are three types of modified polypropylene pipes, namely, homopolymer polypropylene pipe (PP-H), block copolymer polypropylene pipe (PP-B), and random copolymer polypropylene pipe (PP-R). This kind of pipe is soft, easy to install, good sealing, corrosion resistant and long service life. The pipe fittings are connected by welding. PP-R pipe is the third generation of modified polypropylene. It uses random copolymerization to make PE randomly and uniformly polymerize in the PP molecular chain. It has better impact resistance, temperature change resistance and creep resistance than PP-B.变性。 Variable performance. Mainly used for indoor hot water pipes and ground radiation heating systems. The current domestic product specifications are between Φ20-63mm.
1.1.5ABS tube
ABS tube is a thermoplastic composed of three monomer copolymers of acrylonitrile, butadiene and styrene. It has the characteristics of high quality and durability. Among them, acrylonitrile has heat resistance, aging resistance, and chemical resistance; butadiene has the properties of impact resistance, high toughness, and low temperature characteristics; styrene has the characteristics of easy construction and smooth pipe surface. The pipe fittings are connected by cold glue welding method, which is generally used for indoor hot water pipes and water treatment dosing pipes.
1.1.6 Polybutene pipe (PB)
Polybutene is a kind of high molecular inert polymer, it has high temperature resistance (can be used safely between -20℃~95℃), durability, chemical stability, plasticity, and unique creep resistance Performance, tasteless and mirrorless. There are three ways to connect B pipe and fittings, namely copper joint clamping connection, hot-melt plug-in connection, and electric fusion connection. Mainly used in indoor hot and cold water and heating pipes.
According to relevant reports, in the United States, where PB pipes were widely used in the 1970s, a series of rapid cracking blasting accidents occurred in the pipeline in the past decade. It is still unclear whether this accident is caused by the pipe itself or the quality of the pipe fittings made of polyoxymethylene. The United States has banned the promotion of the use of such pipes, which should arouse our attention.
1.2 composite pipe
1.2.1 Aluminum-plastic composite pipe (PAP)
Aluminum-plastic composite pipe is a new type of composite pipe manufactured by extrusion molding process. It is composed of polyethylene layer (or cross-linked polyethylene)-adhesive layer-aluminum layer-adhesive layer-polyethylene layer (or cross-linked Polyethylene) five-layer structure. Among them, the aluminum layer is formed by lap welding and butt welding. The pipe fittings are mainly clamped copper joints, which are used in indoor cold and hot water pipes and floor radiation heating systems. The specifications currently available on the market are between Φ14~32mm.
